City StickerThe Chicago City Sticker is an annual "wheel" tax. If you live within the city limits for a period of thirty days or more, you are required to purchase a sticker.
Every May, the Chicago City Clerk's office mails out renewal forms for anyone holding a current sticker. The easiest way to purchase your new sticker is the City Clerk's web-site . The Clerk's office (121 North LaSalle Street - Room 107) begins selling the new stickers on June 1st of each year. Additionally, stickers can also be purchased at most currency exchanges and at the City of Chicago Revenue Substation at 2550 West Addison. The City Revenue office is open Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm.
The annual cost for most passenger automobiles is $75.00. Some larger passenger vehicles cost $120.00. Senior citizens are eligible for a reduced price sticker. Stickers purchased after July 15 each year are subject to a $40.00 late fee. After July 15th, all on-line purchases will include the $40.00 late fee. If you are a new resident or have just purchased a vehicle the late fee will be waived with proper documentation, at any of the sites listed above.
