May 10, 2010Neighborhood News
I have been informed that the owners of Lincoln Park Hospital have submitted an application to amend the planned development ordinance for this property. The planned development is the zoning classification that regulates the specific uses, bulk and density for the property. The applicants are required to mail notification to neighboring property owners within a 250 foot radius of the site.
Currently the property is zoned only for medical uses. Their application reflects the mixed-use proposal they presented to the community in January.
I will not give my support or approval for this application until there is a consensus of support from the neighborhood. It is clear to me that the mixed-use proposal does not have that support, especially the commercial aspect.
This is the beginning of the official process. Going forward I will continue to work with the community to lead the process of negotiating with the applicants to revise the proposal to address neighbors' concerns and produce a project that benefits the community.
I encourage earnest efforts from all parties during this process.
The application will be posted on the website I established for this issue, lphospital.blogspot.com. I welcome your review and participation.
